Über Music Tech (12th) 1 Full Arts Credit Performing at the solo festival then opens up the opportunities. Student musicians and educators are showing off their talents in Rochester this weekend at the New York State School Music Association conference. Each year, NYSSMA provides all music students the opportunity to prepare a solo and perform it at the annual spring festival to receive adjudicated feedback from a New York State music- certified judge. Students who have completed at least one year of Music Technology may enroll again to pursue advanced, independent work in preparation for college and/or career readiness, which includes the creation of a comprehensive music portfolio. Senior Emily D’Alessandro performed her voice selection as a part of the mixed chorus arrangement. This course allows students to think independently and express themselves freely through the creative process. Participants in this year’s April 2021 Virtual NYSSMA Festival worked with their music teachers, mentors, and private coaches to prepare. Each spring NYSSMA sponsors music festivals across the state, which local school districts volunteer to host.
